Clamshell packaging is made of a one-piece container that includes two halves which are joined by a hinge area. This type of packaging is commonly designed from plastic, however it can also be made from Styrofoam, paperboard, cardboard, and recycled paper.
Clamshell packaging needs to be secure so that products remain safely contained inside to prevent shoplifting and from items moving around, however, it can be incredibly difficult and frustrating to open.
